How to Divide Your Dahlia Tubers
The easiest way to multiply your dahlia garden is to divide your tubers! Even if all you do is dig the dahlia tuber clump up and cut it in half, you will have doubled your flowers. But the incredible thing about dahlias is that each tuber clump is capable of being cut down even more, all the way down to individual tubers. This means one dahlia tuber will replicate itself 5 to 20 times in one season. Different dahlia varieties duplicate themselves more than others. If you’re curious about the steps of digging and storing, click here for all of our tips. We love bringing you along with us. It's truly a joy to share our home and life with you.
Aaron and I are gardeners, not flower farmers or a big business - we're just a small home based garden with a business that has grown out of it. Each fall we dig our dahlia tubers up, store them thru the winter and then come the beginning of February we divide the tuber clumps for 2 reasons:
1. We love to share our dahlias with friends and family and You! We only grow varieties and colors that we love and use in our floral designs. A lot of the varieties are hard to find and some of them are unique just to our garden! Giving a tuber as a gift is the easiest way to fill friends and family's gardens with blooms.
2. Our Dahlia Shop Opens March 12th! Click here for the shop Every season we curate our dahlia patch to fit what we love but also the colors that are trending for the upcoming wedding and event season. Each year we have new varieties!
These are our favorite tools to use when dividing the tuber clumps
